At Port City Hurricane Shutters, our owners, Justin and Shane, learned everything they know about hurricane protection in Florida – even traveling internationally to Cancun and Cozumel to manage storm protection projects, and train local crews how to install. Justin arrived in North Carolina after seeing a need in the market and community, and soon realized it would be the perfect place to plant new roots. Justin moved his wife, Kellie, and their four-year-old son, Dean, to the Myrtle Grove area in 2019 and never looked back. Kellie’s career came to a halt due to the COVID-19 chaos of 2020, which turned Port City Hurricane Shutters into a full-blown family-owned and operated business.
Justin feels strongly that hurricane protection is about more than just a quality product. It is also about strong business ethics, having even higher standards than those dictated by local codes, and offering shutters at fair prices across the board, rather than basing them on zip code. Our prices are the same per square foot no matter where you live.
Having seen why regulations are so strict in Florida, Justin didn’t see why hurricane protection should differ here in Wilmington, North Carolina. It isn’t like hurricanes pack a softer force here! That is why we manufacture and install our shutters locally to the highest product engineering requirements.
Justin has been in all aspects of the hurricane protection industry, including manufacturing, product testing, measuring/design, installation, and business operations.
In August of 2021, Shane was added to the Port City Hurricane Shutter team as Co-Owner. His experience and knowledge of the industry and products mirrors Justin’s. We still maintain the family owned and operated title as Shane is married to Kellie’s (Justin’s wife) sister. Shane’s experience knowledge and likeminded values were enough to offer him the position. Having family here is just a wonderful bonus! With the opportunity to help grow and offer customers a better quality of service, he moved his wife Jackie and daughter, Reese, up to the same Myrtle Grove area – dropping his son, Jaden, off to college on the way. You can be confident that we will earn your respect from start to finish of your hurricane shutter project. Customer service is something we never take lightly. When other companies don’t service the shutters that they installed, turn to us. Even if we did not install them, we will evaluate, and remedy the problem.
